Residential Living Visitation Guidelines

Apartment Building Guests

  • No more than two people may visit with a resident in any apartment at any time. All apartment building guests must register prior to visiting by calling Sarah Spencer, admin. secretary/receptionist, at 717.848.2585 between 8:30 am and 4:30 p.m., Monday-Friday.
  • Guests will be met by the receptionist outside the main building for a temperature check and questionnaire screening upon their pre-scheduled arrival.
  • Guests with a temperature of more than 99.9° or who present any risk for COVID-19 will be asked to leave the premises. There will be NO exceptions.
  • Residents should greet their visitor(s) when they check into the main building/community center and must escort them to and from their residence.
  • If an elevator is required to access the unit, the resident and guest(s) should be the sole occupants.

Cottage Residents Guests

  • Guests are not required to register.
  • Limit outside visitors to two or less at a time.
  • Visit outside, if possible, and maintain safe social/physical distancing at all times.
  • Guests must wear masks when on campus. There are no exceptions to this rule.

Visitation

  • Visit with your guests outside whenever possible.
  • Outdoor social gatherings should be limited to groups of 10 people or less.
  • Maintain social/physical distancing guidelines of at least six feet at all times.

Restrictions

  • All guests must refrain from visiting, if they have a temperature above 99.9°, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, sore throat, headache, nausea, vomiting or other COVID-19 related symptoms.
  • Anyone having had any possible exposure to COVID-19, must delay their visit.

Face Masks

  • Face masks are mandatory for all residents and guests when in public spaces such as hallways, elevators, lobbies and when social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Maintain social distancing in your apartment and remain masked.

Common Areas

  • Apartment guests are not permitted in common areas or lounges.
  • Residents and guests should avoid contact with other residents during visits.

Off-Campus Visits/Trips

  • Limit off-campus visits to family members.
  • Make sure that you and your family wear a face mask when you are in public spaces or around people who do not live with you.
  • Always practice safe social/physical distancing.
  • If you visit a place where there is an increased incidence of COVID-19, including coastal beaches and a growing list of states from across the nation, you may be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days after your return. This guidance is based on the most current information available to us from the Office of the Governor. Visit the Pennsylvania Pressroom at https://www.pa.gov/news/ for the latest news releases from state officials on this topic and other matters related to COVID-19. You also may want to discuss your plans in advance with the residential living wellness nurse.

Overnight Visitation

  • Cottage residents may resume overnight visits with family members only.
  • Family members must be limited to two or less people.
  • Overnight guest(s) must register with the residential living wellness nurse prior to arrival.
  • Overnight stays are not permitted in the apartments.

  • Now is not the time to let our guard down.
  • Wash/sanitize your hands, wear your face mask & practice safe social/physical distancing.
  • Your personal decisions impact others and can help prevent the spread of COVID-19.
  • We reserve the right to revise these guidelines as necessary to prevent the spread of this deadly virus.
  • Your health and safety always has been & remains our #1 priority.

The following actions have been implemented since this unprecedented health care crisis began:

Life Plan Communities

  • Began COVID-19 testing of all residents and staff at our skilled care centers and personal care and assisted living residences.
  • Skilled care centers and personal care and assisted living residences under CMS federal mandate of restricted visitation and no communal dining or group activities. Window visits permitted by appointment with restrictions.
  • Visitors permitted in cottages and apartment buildings with restrictions. Overnight guests not permitted in apartment buildings. Overnight guests permitted in cottages with restrictions.
  • Face masks mandatory for all residents and guests when in public spaces and when social distancing cannot be maintained.
  • Outdoor social gatherings limited to groups of 10 people or less.
  • Residents asked to limit off-campus visits to family members and and follow masking and social/physical distancing guidelines. Residents visiting a place where there is an increased incidence of COVID-19, including coastal beaches and a growing list of states from across the nation, may be asked to self-quarantine for 14 days upon their return.
  • Cottage residents may resume personal housekeeping services July 15 with restrictions. Personal housekeepers not permitted in apartment buildings.
  • Spirit 360 activities will resume on a limited basis through the month of July.
  • Limited beauty & barber services will resume July 15.
  • Non-emergent maintenance services will resume after July 15.
  • All resident mail is being held in a safe place for 24 hours before delivery to resident rooms to minimize any potential risk from the virus.
  • Requesting no flowers or unnecessary packages be delivered until the pandemic restrictions are lifted. Since we cannot guarantee the safety of these items, we reserve the right to not bring the items to your family member’s room until the restrictions are lifted.
  • No outside clergy will be permitted to visit during this time. Spiritual and religious needs provided by priests, ministers and rabbis will be coordinated through our chaplains.
  • The closing of common areas, including community centers and dining venues.
  • Dining venues will not reopen until sometime in August at the earliest.
  • Serving meals to residents in personal care, assisted living and skilled care in their rooms.
  • Providing curbside and delivery meal service for cottage and apartment residents.
  • Our life enrichment team is available to arrange communication between residents and family members through electronic means.
  • Screening of all team members and contracted support service personnel at the start and end of their work shifts, includes temperature taking.
  • Screening of all vendors and other visitors who enter our campuses.
  • Remote work capabilities to limit on-campus personnel to those who are essential to the care of our residents.
  • Increased use of onsite PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Per guidance from CMS, residents must wear a face covering for their safety and the safety of their caregivers whenever a caregiver is in their room. Each resident has received two masks for their personal use. Staff will ask residents to put on their mask every time they enter your family member’s room. These masks will be washed in our laundry department to insure proper safety precautions are taken.
  • Suspending all outside admissions to our personal care and assisted living residences; internal admissions will continue as part of our commitment to providing continuing care.
  • Suspension of in-person volunteer assignments.

SpiriTrust Lutheran Home Care & Hospice

  • Increased use of PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Screening of all team members at the start and end of their work shifts, including temperature taking.
  • Suspension of in-person volunteer assignments.

SpiriTrust Lutheran LIFE

  • Closing of both LIFE Centers until further notice, per a state mandate.
  • Providing participant care in the home.
  • Increased use of PPE (personal protection equipment).
  • Screening of all team members at the start and end of their work shifts, including temperature taking.
  • Suspension of in-person volunteer assignments.

Other Life Enhancing Programs

  • Telehealth counseling services only.
  • Suspension of  financial education and counseling  workshops; providing counseling sessions via phone.
  • Suspension of Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).
  • Suspension of Domestic Abuse Solutions group meetings; client support being provided via phone.
  • Suspension of in-person volunteer assignments.
